National Museum of Agriculture

We have been collecting for you for 100 years already

We have been collecting for you for 100 years! The roots of collections of the current National Museum of Agriculture date back to the Jubilee Exhibition of 1891 and the Ethnographic Exhibition of 1895. Objects presented at these exhibitions formed the core of a Department of Agriculture, which was part of the Ethnographic Museum until 1918.

A milestone in the history of the museum came in 1918:

28 September 1918 / Foundation of a Czech Agricultural Museum Association
18 December 1918 / The Association changed its name to Czechoslovak Agricultural Museum, Institute for the Study and Improvement of the Countryside

> more on the history of the National Museum of Agriculture

The history of the museum is full of twists and turns, forced transformations and relocations. That is why we are happy to welcome you, after 100 years of existence of the National Museum of Agriculture, in a reconstructed Prague building, which offers several new exhibitions as well as a viewing roof terrace. We are currently reconstructing the museum’s building in Valtice, while in Čáslav, we are preparing a new repository. In Lower Vítkovice in Ostrava, we work on new exhibitions, restore selected collection items...

All this is taking place thanks in part to our current founder, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic.

There is much to celebrate...and will be happy if you mark the anniversary with us, for example at some of numerous events we have prepared in connection with the centenary jubilee.

Come celebrate with us:
