Visit the Czech Countryside Museum

The Czech Countryside Museum, branch of the National Museum of Agricultural, has its seat at Kačina Castle and ranks among the most significant Empire buildings in the Czech Republic.

According to the plans of Ch. A. Schuricht, it was built by J. Fischer for Earl Jan Rudolf Chotek. The castle is surrounded by a nature park designed by N. Jacquin. The Choteks lived at Kačina up to 1911 when the last of them passed away and the castle was inherited by his nephew Quido Thun Hohenstein. The museum acquired the castle at the beginning of the 1950s and the museum gradually built many expositions here. Due to their total size of more than 3,000 m2, they are divided into three separate tours. Since 2010, new expositions have been opened that provide information about the history of the Bohemian and Moravian Countryside and the history of cuisine.
